A Developer’s Perspective
As a WordPress developer, I use the EWWW Image Optimizer plugin on all of my clients’ websites. It delivers excellent results and keeps track of images that have already been optimized so you don’t accidentally re-optimize them during bulk image optimization.
Another really neat feature that I found was incredibly useful was scheduled optimization. You simply enable it from the settings page and the plugin detects un-optimized images regularly and optimizes them. And if your client has image files stored in separate folders, the EWWW Image Optimizer plugin handles those, too.

Aside from this, I noticed that the EWWW Image Optimizer plugin optimized images a lot faster than other image optimization plugins for WordPress and gave better compression results.
